En las zonas costeras, estas escasas surgencias s\u00f3lo se han investigado en los arrecifes rocosos templados del Mediterr\u00e1neo y en los arrecifes de coral del Indo-Pac\u00edfico, aunque deber\u00eda existir m\u00e1s en otras costas volc\u00e1nicas del mundo. Los esfuerzos cient\u00edficos para investigar los efectos del OA se han llevado a cabo principalmente mediante experimentos de laboratorio. Sin embargo, existe un debate sobre la agudeza con la que este tipo de enfoque representa realmente las respuestas a los escenarios de AO, ya que generalmente se trata de experimentos a corto plazo, de perturbaci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida y de una sola variable y especie. Debido a estas limitaciones, las zonas del mundo con surgencias naturales de CO2 son esenciales para comprender las respuestas a largo plazo de los ecosistemas marinos al aumento de las concentraciones de CO2 atmosf\u00e9rico derivadas del ser humano. In coastal areas these rare vents have only been investigated at the Mediterranean temperate rocky reefs and at Indo-Pacific coral reefs, although there should be more at other volcanic shores around the world. Substantial scientific efforts on investigating OA effects have been mostly performed by laboratory experiments. However, there is a debate on how acute this kind of approach truly represents the responses to OA scenarios, since it generally involves short-term, rapid perturbation and single variable and species experiments. Due to these limitations, world areas with natural CO2 vents are essential to understand long-term marine ecosystem responses to rising human derived atmospheric CO2 concentrations.
