Analizamos la morfolog\u00eda externa, la resistencia del esqueleto, la mineralog\u00eda y el crecimiento de A. lixula en tres sitios que difer\u00edan consistentemente en pH medio (de 8,14 a 7,65 durante la bajamar). Los erizos procedentes de condiciones de bajo pH fueron m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os, con espinas m\u00e1s cortas y relaciones mand\u00edbula-di\u00e1metro reducidas, pero sus caparazones mostraron mayor resistencia a la fractura que los de condiciones ambientales. Adem\u00e1s, los individuos de zonas acidificadas presentaron din\u00e1micas de crecimiento alteradas, con menos anillos de crecimiento. Estos cambios esquel\u00e9ticos y las alteraciones en el crecimiento son coherentes con procesos de mineralizaci\u00f3n modificados y con cambios en la dieta hacia fuentes alimenticias no calc\u00e1reas. We analyzed the external morphology, skeletal strength, mineralogy, and growth of A. lixula across three sites that differed consistently in mean pH (from 8.14 to 7.65 during low tide). Sea urchins from low pH conditions were smaller, with shorter spines and reduced jaw-to-diameter ratios, yet their tests showed higher fracture resistance than those from ambient conditions. Additionally, individuals from acidified zones showed altered growth dynamics, with fewer growth rings. Skeletal changes and growth alterations are consistent with modified mineralization processes and dietary shifts toward non-calcareous food sources.
