My PhD project aims to understand the functioning of shallow rocky reefs ecosystems off the Canary Islands using Ecopath Mass-Balance Modeling. In particular, I focuses on predicting the effects of artisanal fishing, understanding the ecosystem resilience from disturbances or perturbations, and proposing management strategies for the recovery of degraded ecosystems. This research will allow a large data and information compilation from marine ecosystems off the Canary Islands and will provide a reliable model for prediction and conservation.
