My name is Celso A. Hernández Díaz and I am a marine biologist graduated from La Laguna University. I work in the area of coastal oceanography, focusing on studying nutrients, phytoplankton biomass and productivity in coastal environments, with special interest on the contribution of picophytoplankton (phytoplankton < 2 micrometers cell size) in oligotrophic waters around the Canary Islands. Currently, I am also studying the carbonate system in seawater and how it is affected by the biological activity of phytoplankton and macroalgal assemblages as part of the ongoin BLUEROCK project.
