PD M. Teresa Anguera
M. Teresa Anguera has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Law, and a PhD
in Psychology from the University of Barcelona. She is Emeritus Professor at
the University of Barcelona, where her academic life began in 1972, continuing
until her retirement and subsequent Emeritus post in 2022. Her area of
expertise is focused on observational methodology, mixed methods, and
programme assessment. She has been lead researcher on 11 competitive R+D
projects and has participated in others from different institutions on both an
international and Spanish autonomous community level, being lead researcher
on most of them. She has written of 31 books, 139 book chapters and 374
scientific articles. She has directed or co-directed 70 PhD Theses. In terms of
her management roles, she has been Psychology Faculty Secretary,
Psychology Degree Head of Studies, Director of the Department of
Methodology in Behavioural Sciences, Director of the Research Section of the
ICE (Institute of Educational Sciences) at the University of Barcelona, and Vice
Rector of Teaching and Scientific Policy at the University of Barcelona. She as
been President of the Spanish Association of Methodology in Behavioural
Sciences (AEMCCO) (2007-2011), and Vice Secretary of the European
Association of Methodology (EAM) (2008-2012). She is a member of the
Spanish Academy of Psychology, of the European Academy of PhDs, and
corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia. She is
Honorary Doctor of the University of La Laguna (2022), the University of Las
Palmas de Gran Canaria (2024), the Pontifical University of Salamanca (2024)
and the University of Lleida (2024).
PD Ana Hernández
Ana Hernández is associate professor of Psychometrics at the University of Valencia.
She has a double affiliation with the department of Methodology, and the Research
Institute for Personnel Psychology, Organizational Development, and Quality of
Working Life (IDOCAL). Her main methodological research interests are related to
validity issues in measurement instruments, in general, and scale and item functioning,
in particular, as well as multilevel analysis. She has published about these topics in
journals such as Multivariate Behavioral Research, Journal of Applied Psychology,
Structural Equation Modeling and Organizational Research Methods. She chairs the
Spanish Test Commission within the Spanish Psychological Association. She is current
vice-president of the executive committee of AEMCCO (Spanish Association of
Methodology of Behavioral Sciences), and EAM (European Association of
Methodology). Regarding WOP-P Psychology, her main research interests are related to
work teams, leadership, and job quality. She has published on these topics in journals
such as Journal of Applied Psychology, European Journal of Work and Organizational
Psychology, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and Journal of
Vocational Behavior, among others. She is member of the Executive Committee of
EAWOP (European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology).
PD Javier Suárez-Álvarez
Javier Suárez-Álvarez is an Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts
Amherst (UMass), where he teaches graduate courses in Research, Educational
Measurement, and Psychometrics (REMP). He also serves as the Associate Director at
the UMass Center for Educational Assessment (CEA), where he works on various
research grants, such as the Adult Skills Assessment Program (ASAP). In this role, he
is at the forefront of developing 21st-century assessments that integrate the latest
technological advances and culturally sustaining assessment principles.
Javier currently serves as an elected council member of the International Test
Commission (ITC), a member of the Technical Advisory Group for UNICEF’s Multiple
Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS), and a member of the National Center on Education
and the Economy (NCEE) Benchmarking Working Group. He is an Associate Editor of
two highly cited journals, Psychological Assessment and Psicothema. He also serves as
Consulting Editor for the International Journal of Testing (IJT) and Practical
Assessment, Research & Evaluation (PARE).
Before joining UMass, Javier was an Education Policy Analyst at the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France. He was the lead
author of the PISA report 21st-Century Readers: Developing Literacy Skills in a Digital
World, co-authored the report Beyond Academic Learning: First Results from the Survey
of Social and Emotional Skills (SSES) and its Assessment Framework, led analytical
reports in the International Early Learning and Well-being Study (IELS), and contributed
to implementing PISA for Schools in Latin-American countries. Furthermore, he
oversaw the quality control and successful implementation of these international large-
scale assessments, collaborating closely with contractors and participating countries.
Earlier in his career, Javier was a teaching and research staff member in the
Department of Psychology at the University of Oviedo, Spain. He also worked as an
analyst in the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Principality of Asturias,
Spain. Javier earned his B.A. in Psychology and his PhD in Psychometrics from the
University of Oviedo, Spain. He was a visiting scholar in the Research, Educational
Measurement, and Psychometrics (REMP) program at the University of Massachusetts
Amherst, USA, and the Psychometrics Centre of the University of Cambridge, UK.
Javier has been a member of the European Association of Methodology (EAM) and the
Spanish Association for the Methodology of Behavioral Sciences (AEMCCO) for over
ten years.
