Paleolithic Geoarchaeology<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our main geoarchaeological focus lies within the Paleolithic period, with particular emphasis on the Middle Paleolithic and the study of the last Neanderthal communities in southeastern Iberia. Much of our research has centered on two key archaeological sites: El Salt<\/strong> and Abric del Pastor<\/strong>, both located in Alcoy, Alicante (Spain). These sites have yielded exceptionally well-preserved stratigraphic sequences that are ideal for applying high-resolution geoarchaeological techniques. At both sites, we have developed three main lines of research: the study of human\u2013environment interactions<\/strong>, the deciphering of archaeological palimpsests<\/strong>, and experimental archaeology related to fire use<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The AMBI Lab collaborates with a network of archaeological and research sites across Europe, working closely with local teams to investigate past human-environment interactions.
