Carolina Mallol
I am a geoarchaeologist and specialist in archaeological soil micromorphology and its integration with biomolecular lipid data. Most of my contributions are on the topics of hominid paleoenvironments, Paleolithic fire, the Neanderthals, and method & theory. Recently, I have become interested in the peopling of the Canary Islands and carry out geoarchaeological research at several aboriginal sites. Fieldwork is one of my priorities. I am currently director of excavations at El Salt and Abric del Pastor, two Middle Palaeolithic sites in Alcoy, Spain. I owe a great deal to my academic advisors and to my collaborators and students, all of which have contributed enormously to my career.
